It’s Monday, what are you reading? (6)

This meme is hosted at Book Journey. I didn't get a chance to do nearly as much reading as I ambitiously planned for last week but I did manage to finish a couple books, mainly on audio, all the same. None of them are ones I am totally in love with but they are all from authors I would definitely read more of in the future. I've also got a great batch lined up for this week I can't wait to dig into.

Last week I finished reading:

Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen

This is only my second Sarah Dessen but it was cute and uplifting and charming just like I thought it would be. The entire gang of girls at the clothing store meets loner reminded me a lot of Keeping the Moon, and I definitely preferred the family storyline (I found the new overwhelmed mother very genuine) to the love one. Overall it was a good read and I'm sure I'll pick up another Dessen in the future, probably in audio as well which I liked a lot. Recommendations anyone?

Insatiable by Meg Cabot
It's no secret I'm usually not a fan of vampires, but I figured the snarky twist from Cabot was worth trying. Ultimately it's not the kind of book I'll pick to read again though.

Overbite by Meg Cabot
I enjoyed Insatiable enough to be curious about its sequel, but unfortunately this one fell flat for me. It seemed like everything Cabot was mocking in the first book, she took seriously in this one.

Irma Voth by Miriam Toews
My first time reading a book by Canadian darling Toews and I admit it wasn't what I expected- definitely didn't see the ending coming. I enjoyed it though, and I find the insight she gave into the Mennonite community very interesting.

What I plan to read this week:
Cold Kiss by Amy Garvey
According to my e-reader I'm 17% into this one and I am enjoying it, I just ended up distracted by other things this week and didn't get as much reading done as I intended. That said, I'm definitely curious to find out how Wren deals with her brought-back-to-life boyfriend and hopefully the Gabriel storyline doesn't get too predictable.

The Accident by Linwood Barclay
I'm over halfway done this one and even though I started it on audio I expect I'll just delve into my paperback today and finish it up. VERY hooked on the mysterious storyline, and I'm so used to reading stories with female narrators it's refreshing to hear a male voice. Considering this book was an unsolicited copy that showed up, I'm loving it a surprising amount and hope the ending lives up to the first half.

Swing Low by Miriam Toews
I had the opportunity to read a second Toews for an upcoming book tour and the premise of this one- non-fiction about her father who killed himself- was definitely intriguing. I am curious to see how Toews writes when dealing with such a personal subject.

The Grief of Others by Leah Hager Cohen
Another emotional book tour novel I didn't get a chance to read last week and am hoping to read soon.

Exposed by Kimberly Marcus
I read only the first ten pages of this novel in verse so far but I am already quite intrigued. So far the voice sounds fairly similar to Ellen Hopkins in the rough style and I expect to sit down and devour the novel later this week. I've been looking forward to reading this one for months, everything from the cover to the name to the premise to the main character- a photogirl- is something that interested me and hopefully the book hooks me in the same way.

Frost by Wendy Delsol
I didn't get a chance to read this last week (again). I still have to find a happy medium between e-galleys, ARCs and my own personal collection and at the moment that's meant this one got delayed quite a bit. Maybe this week though!

What are you reading this week?
